Press Release on the “Barcelona terrorist attack” submitted by the International Association for the Defense of Religious Liberty (AIDLR), from Bern, Switzerland

In solidarity with Barcelona

Again and again we strongly condemn the acts of these new terrorist attacks perpetrated in Barcelona and Cambrils on Thursday 17 of August 2017. We feel pain for each of one of 14 victims and around 100 people that were injured by the jihadists terrorists. We express compassion with Barcelona and all families affected by these inhumane and brutal crimes perpetrated in the name of the terrorist organization of Daesh/ISIS.

We pray for and express solidarity with the Spanish and worldwide people - as French, German, Italian, Belgium, US, Algerian, Argentinian, Australian, Austrian, Moroccan, Canadian, Chinese, Colombian, Romanian, Venezuelan, Cuban, Ecuadorian, Egyptian, US, Filipino, British, Greek, Dutch, Taiwanese, Honduran, Hungarian, Irish, Italian, Kuwaiti, Macedonian, Mauritanian, Pakistani, Peruvian, Dominican, Turkish - that have been affected by these cruel terrorist attacks.

The AIDLR believes that Christians, Muslims, Jews, Buddhists and adherents of all other religions should be peacemakers and the AIDLR upholds the virtues of religious liberty. The AIDLR believes too that continue interreligious dialogue, education and training regarding dignity of every person and respect for diversity and protection of life, religious freedom or belief need to be encouraged in every part of the world, contributing together to be stopped all these tragedies and attacks against people, peace and our humanity.

The AIDLR recognizes that there is need for wisdom on not confuse any religion with acts of some extremists and terrorists. We pray and we are united and in solidarity with the people of Spain and Barcelona as we support global peace, understanding between all people, cultures and religions.
