The Secretary-General of the AIDLR was invited by Dr. Mohamed Elsanousi, Executive Director of the Network for Religious and Traditional Peacemakers and Dr. Mohamed Said Al-Mamari Advisor to the Minister of the Ministry of Endowment and Religious Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, to join the 11th Advisory Group Meeting (AGM) organized by the Network for Religious and Traditional Peacemakers in partnership with the Ministry of Endowment and Religious Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, that took place from 16-18 November in Jakarta, Indonesia. The annual celebration of the UN Day of Tolerance, 16 November 2019, was the date chosen for the launch of the Omani’ initiative, ‘Towards United Human Values’, and the event took place at the Raffles Hotel in Jakarta. This celebration gathered religious leaders, ambassadors, notable experts from around the world, who have supported Oman in its global initiative to promote religious tolerance, mutual understanding and peaceful coexistence. Dr. Liviu Olteanu, Secretary-General of the AIDLR, evaluated with many of the participants at the conference, a possible collaboration in the future, and mutual support on religious liberty issues. Those who participated and delivered speeches at the conference included: H.E. Abdullah Al Salmi, Minister at the Ministry of Endowment and Religious Affairs of Oman; H.E. Adama Dieng, UN Under-Secretary-General and Special Adviser to the Secretary-General on Genocide Prevention (by video conference); Dr. Ján Figel, Special Envoy of the European Union for Freedom of Religion or Belief outside the EU; Simona Cruciani, the UN Officer on Genocide Prevention and Responsibility to Protect; H.E. Pekka Metso, Ambassador for Intercultural and Interreligious Dialogue, Finland; Prof. Amany Lubis, Rector of Syaraf Hidayatullah, State Islamic University, Jakarta, and many others. During the meeting, the Strategic Implementation Planning 2020-2025, proposed by the Network for Religious and Traditional Peacemakers, was debated.
